COMPETITION FORMATS
Glenhuntly Athletic Club aligns its competition with Athletics Victoria Events.
The Winter Cross Country & Road (XCR) series and the Summer Track & Field State League provide the mainstay for regular competition throughout the year.

The Winter XCR series runs from April to September and consists of 10 rounds of competition, including 4 relay events (which are loads of fun). The races are held at scenic venues across metropolitan and regional areas. Accommodating runners of all abilities, the races are a mix of cross country terrain and road with distances ranging from 3 km through to half marathons. Individual athlete results contribute to the overall team/club score.

The Summer AVSL competition spans from October to March, with 12 track & field meets scheduled throughout the season on Saturday afternoons at various locations. Glenhuntly Athletic Club competes in the Premier Division of AVSL, and the season culminates with Playoffs between the top clubs of each division to decide the overall AVSL champion.

Glenhuntly Athletic Club also hosts club events from time to time during the year. Some of these are perpetual events that have been running for many years (e.g., the annual South Australia vs Victoria XC challenge) while others are one-off events to mark special occasions or opportunities to promote our club to the wider community. Details of GAC events will be posted below, as they arise.

Specialist Meets
Specialist Meets cater for a range of athletes who want to develop their skills across several track and field disciplines. Athletes are typically seeded into races/events based on their performances, to encourage close competition and bring the best out of everyone competing on the day. These meets are usually held mid-week in the evening or on the occasional weekend.
