GUS THEOBALD FOUNDATION

IMG_4850.JPG

Gus was a great club member: a Club Captain, President, Team Manager, competitor and a supporter and friend to all Hunters for over sixty years. His untimely death by accident in 1990 led the Club to create The Gus Theobald Foundation. The foundation honours his deeds and name, and fittingly its two annual awards reflect the values Gus epitomised and so loved about Glenhuntly Athletic Club:

- Contributing to the community of athletes

- Motivating and inspiring youthful club members

Since its launch in 1992, the Foundation has made two Awards each year.

The Gus Theobald Foundation - Achievement Award
This award recognises the wonderful contribution made to our sport by volunteers.

The Gus Theobald Foundation - Encouragement Award
The Encouragement Award is awarded to both a junior boy and girl (two awards) and is directed towards enthusiastic, capable young athletes, who shows a sound commitment to team values and good self-management.

Glenhuntly Athletics Club proudly acknowledges the Boon Wurrung/Bunurong and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung peoples of the Kulin Nation, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we train, compete, and come together.

We pay our respects to Elders past and present, and we extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who are part of our community today.

We recognise the enduring connection of First Nations peoples to the land, waters, and skies, and we celebrate their rich cultures and contributions to sport and community.
