TRAINING AT GLENHUNTLY ATHLETIC CLUB

Glenhuntly Athletic Club has a team of excellent coaches all of whom are registered and accredited with Athletics Australia. A registered club member can join one of the many squads under the guidance of these coaches. Training is available for athletes of all abilities (including disabilities) aged 12+.

 

Glenhuntly Athletic Club has shared access to Duncan Mackinnon Athletics Track for training at the following times:

Monday: 4:30pm-7:30pm

Tuesday: 4:30pm-7:00pm

Wednesday: 4:30pm-7:30pm

Thursday: 4:30pm-7:30pm

Sunday: 8:00am-12:00pm

To train at Duncan Mackinnon Reserve at these time you must be a member of Glenhuntly Athletic Club, or other tenant clubs with shared booking times.

BINNO SQUAD

SPRINTS, HURDLES, JUMPS

Binno squad is the perfect fit for athletics looking to take the sport to the next level. The squad has a mix of junior, open and master athletes. Athletes who are transitioning form junior into senior athletes from school sport or little athletics or returning athletes to athletics later in life will find like minded training partners in the Binno squad.

SPRINTS, MIDDLE DISTANCE

Terri Caters sprints and middle-distance squad is the perfect squad for athletes looking to improve their running skill and speed endurance. The Cater squad works together to push limits and improve skill through committed training. The squad has athletes with various levels of experience from new runners to national representatives.

SPRINTS, MIDDLE DISTANCE, LONG DISTANCE

The CS Track Squad comprises of developing to high performing junior athletes. Chris uses his depth in athletic knowledge to help athletes reach their full potential and an expert in helping athletes reach their full potential when it matters most at championship competitions. The CS squad works together at training to build race fitness and tactical skill for middle to long distance athletes.  Training fees apply.

SPRINTS, HURDLES, JUMPS, THROWS

Craig Furber provides thorough guidance across many athletics disciplines. Furbs helps athletes perfect their skills in their desired events and helps athletes who compete over multiple disciplines manage their training and performance for competition. Suitable for athletes of all ages with training partners of various ages and disciplines. Training fees apply.

GHY POLE VAULTERS

Pole vault is a fast, technical, and thrilling event. Athletes with sprinting, hurdling, or long jump experience often adapt well due to the need for speed and power. A gymnastics background is also helpful for body control in the air. If you’re up for a challenge and want to try something exciting, this squad is for you!

MIDDLE DISTANCE, LONG DISTANCE, FUNDAMENTALS FOR JUMPS AND THROWS

Kevin Mannix trains athletes of all ages across middle-distance events. Kevin’s junior squad includes athletes of 10 years and older. Athletes new to athletics looking to improve their athletic skills and learn the fundamentals of Athletic events will find Kevin’s squad a great fit.

KELLY SQUAD

SPRINTS, MIDDLE DISTANCE

Rod Kelly’s track squad specializes in sprints and middle distance events, converging ages junior into senior athletics at club to national level. Rod works closely with athletes to improve their running technique. Athletes who are new to athletics who found enjoyment from school athletics through to athletes who have been in the sport for some time will find a place in Rod Kelly’s track squad. Training fees apply.

HIGH JUMP

Jeff is a highly experienced jumps coach helping athletes reach new heights in this technical event. Jeff operates two dedicated training groups; one with a younger developing jumpers (early teens) and a group of experienced jumpers (older teens to opens).  Athletes will benefit from a supportive group of jumpers looking to master their high-jumping skills. Training fees apply.

LANG JUMPS

Mike’s Mob, led by coach Mike Edwards, specializes in all throwing events and supports athletes at every level, from beginners to those pursuing national and international success. The squad includes juniors, seniors, and masters, offering a welcoming environment for athletes transitioning from school or Little Athletics, or returning to the sport later in life.

MOMENTUM RUNNING

MIDDLE DISTANCE

Momentum Running is open to any athlete aiming to be their best. No experience is needed, but commitment to 4–6 sessions per week is expected. Coach Jeff fosters an inclusive, lifelong love of running while striving to be Australia’s top development pathway, offering NCAA and pro opportunities. Tailored training is provided for athletes 14+. Training fees apply.

MIDDLE DISTANCE, LONG DISTANCE

Tom Watson’s training group the Seaside track club works with a group of athletes who specialize in middle distance events. Tom takes on athletes 15 years through to open athletes. Tom offers consistent training programing to guild skill and fitness for middle distance events. The seaside track club provides athletes a friendly and supportive environment to reach their full potential.

THE RAPID SPEED ACADEMY

SPRINTS, HORIZONTAL JUMPS, HURDLES, RELAYS

The Rapid Speed Academy is the perfect fit for Athletes who want to move with precision, efficiency, explosive power and passionate about their sport. Athletes who are committed to refining their biomechanics to unlock their full speed and movement potential in Sprints, Jumps, Hurdles. I cannot make them fast, however I can make them faster.

MIDDLE DISTANCE

Mickael Soussan Performance Running Squad, is focused on helping athletes achieve their potential at state, national, and international levels. We value effort, progress, and resilience, fostering a supportive team culture built on accountability, leadership, and mutual encouragement. Athletes are expected to train consistently, arrive prepared, follow their individual plans, and support their teammates while representing the squad and club well.


SOUSSAN PERFORMANCE RUNNING SQUAD

Athletes training under independent coaches are strongly encouraged to seek documentation from their coach including, Athletics Australia Accreditation, Working With Children's Check and any coaching certificates.
