Glenhuntly Athletics Club Annual Dinner 2025

The Glenhuntly Athletics Club came together to celebrate another incredible season at our 2025 Annual Dinner. From rising stars to national record-breakers and wonderful volunteers, it was great to have the opportunity to showcase of our club's talent, dedication, and community spirit.


Club & Australian Records

Congratulations to all athletes who set new Club Records this season - We had 58 New Club Records to Award!

Special recognition goes to those who set Australian Records — a remarkable feat:

  • Evette Cordy (W50-54): 1000m – 3:06.36

  • Simon Glendenning (M45-49): 1000m – 2:37.86

  • William Short: T13 national records in the 800m, 1500m, and 3000m

  • Jordan Fairweather: T35 400m – 1:01.60

  • Angus Murrie: T64 U20 800m – 2:35.05

  • Rhydian Cowley: 35km Race Walk - 2:25.21

  • Heather Carr (W75): National records in the 2000mSC, 5000mW,

  • Gwen Steed (W80): 5000mW - 37.22


Life Membership Award

We proudly welcomed Steven Stern as our newest Life Member. Thank you for your years of service and contribution to the club!


Gus Theobold Foundation Awards

Awarded to junior athletes with promise and dedication, each recipient received a $400 award.

  • Alice Hollingsworth

    • Breakthrough season in hurdles

    • State All Schools 200m Champion

    • Broke Open and U20 100m Hurdles club records

  • William Short

    • Set multiple Australian T13 records

    • In contention for World Para Championship selection

Appreciation Award

Carl Hollins – For years of service as Junior Girls Team Manager and mastermind behind successful State Relay team planning. Thank you, Carl!


Bob and Doris Davis Aggregate Award

Based on AVSL point scoring:

  • Junior: Will Amiatu – 8560 points

  • Open: Sebastian Zammit – 4705 points

  • Masters: Elloy Amiatu – 7054 points


Trevor Vincent & Brenda Carr Junior Awards

  • Male: Archie Sideridis

    • GOLD: National U15 1500m & 3000m

    • SILVER: National U15 800m

  • Female: Jazmin Firth

    • GOLD: Victorian U18 Discus

    • GOLD: Victorian Open Discus


Outstanding Senior/Master Performance

Rhydian Cowley

  • 12th place: Olympic 20km Race Walk

  • BRONZE Medal: Race Walk Relay (Paris Olympics)


“Best In” Event Awards

Best Thrower – Toni Matters (1670 pts)

Best Jumper – Allegra Orso (1918 pts, Triple Jump Club Record)

Best Hurdler – Alice Hollingsworth (1854 pts, Club Record & State Silver)

Best Sprinter – Frankie Hyde (2016 pts, sub-60s 400m at age 13!)

Best Distance Runner – Evette Cordy (2057 pts, top 800m results)

Best Walker – Alejandro Stephens (1564 pts, most walk events completed)

Best Relay Team - U14 Girls 4x200m:Sara Paszko, Imogen Brownjohn, Frankie Hyde, Harper Chirgwin
