Victorian Masters 30+ Track & Field Championships
SAT 11–SUN 12 FEBRUARY 2023
The Victorian Masters Track and Field competition was held on the 11th and 12th February 2023 at Tom Kelly Athletics Track in Doncaster, under mostly fine weather. Competition is open to VMA members who are 30 years old and above. Competition is conducted in 5-year age groups e.g 30–34 year.
This year the VMA changed things by creating teams based around the Masters venues e.g. East Burwood, Glen Eira etc. Most Glenhuntly members were aligned to Glen Eira, however some members competed with their home venues. The results of the team based competition:
Group 1: Provisional Winner - VMA Throwers 30+ (54 pts.); Runners up - Aberfeldie 30+ (40 pts.) & Box Hill 30+ (37 pts.). Glen Eira was in Group 1 and finished equal 5th (out of 6).
Group 2: Provisional Winner - Croydon 30+ (38 pts.); Runners up - East Burwood 30+ (33 pts.) & Diamond Valley 30+ (33 pts.)
Group 3: Provisional Winner - Waverley 30+ (40 pts); Runners up - Shepparton 30+ (36 pts) & Sandringham 30+ (35 pts).
Team scoring was based on 4 KPIs. Suffice to say they are quite complex and difficult to understand.
