Hunters men and women vie for season's state premiers

Glenhuntly athletes did their club proud on Saturday 10th July at Cruden Farm in Round 4 of the Athletics Victoria XCR season. With 51 athletes fielded across our junior, open and master categories, the club reaped some impressive individual and team results. This sees us now very well positioned on the season's XCR Ladders.

Individual Results

Highlights of the day were our winning performances by:

Madison King (1st, U14 Girls 4 KM)

Luka Sideris (1st, U14 Boys 4 KM)

Logan Janetski (1st, U/18 Boys 8 KM)

Karinna Fyfe (1st, Open Women's 12 KM)

Fantastic results were achieved by all.

Team Results

The individual efforts of every athlete contributed to outstanding Teams Results across the board.

Results - Teams

Of note, our Premier Women annihilated their opposition, with our five athletes delivering gutsy runs to all finish in the top 11 and take out the No. 1 position. Congratulations to Karinna Fyfe, Dana Dekkers, Erika Florez, Sarah Howe and Cassie Little. Meanwhile, our six Premier Men put pressure on their rivals to make their mark and take out 2nd place. Well done to Sam Toll, Dion Finocchiaro, Ben Kelly, Adam Spencer , Denyan Claxton and Jason Clayton.

Our U18 Boys (Logan Janetski, Aiden Velten and Kevin Zhou) and Women's Division 2 (Anna Kentwell, Amelia Aslinades, Aimee Davenport and Bec Kirkham) teams took out No 1 positions, too. And, congratulations to the Women's 50+ (Kim Nanscawen, Roz Walker and Lisa Deramond) and Men's 60+ (Joe Murphy, Chris Wardlaw and Rob Dunbar) teams, both taking 2nd place on the day.

In strong contention

Glenhuntly Athletics teams are now sitting very nicely in the leader boards across all Open Divisions as well as our Master and Junior age categories. The XCR schedule is currently experiencing some disruption due to COVID-19. However, if we maintain the momentum and continue to see good numbers at forthcoming rounds, there is no doubt we will secure some podium results on this season's XCR ladders.
