Super running by Glenhuntly Athletics Masters women at Cruden Farm

LG & TV Running Squad – Latest News

Athletics Victoria XCR Rd 4 Saturday 10th July 2021

Fiona Noble in action on Saturday at Cruden Farm

This was the course we couldn’t wait to run this season. Twelve kilometres over hill and dale at picturesque Cruden Farm. It was a cold, grey and misty day but, thankfully, no rain. And, without any mud baths to wade through this year, it was a truly civilised experience. Much of the grass had been freshly cut for us and the bracken path that wound its way around the back of the farm created a brief moment of serenity that alleviated the pain our lungs and legs were feeling. We all felt a sense of great accomplishment as we crossed the finish line, for sure. The warm coffee and Hunters’ cupcakes afterwards were very well-deserved. It was terrific to see the super turnout by our Masters’ women for the longest cross-country course this season. Whoever doubted we were up for it?! We excelled, as always.

Cruden Farm 12 KM XC Results

Top performances of the day were from Fiona Noble (W40+)and Kim Nanscawen (W55+) who both ran inside 60 minutes and finished 3rd and 5th, respectively, in their age categories (an outstanding debut by Fiona, well done!). Terrific results were had by all, as shown below.

Masters Champion Gradings

Athletes who finish in the top 10 of their age category earn points that count towards the season's final rankings. We currently have five Master athletes in the ‘top 10’ season rankings after Round 2 (Lardner Park) – Kim Nanscawen, Roz Walker, Lisa Deramond, Robyn Fletcher and Lynn Bullock. Notably, Kim was sitting in a very close 2nd after Lardner Park and looks like still holding onto 2nd position following Cruden Farm (AV are yet to post updates to the ladders following Cruden Farm).
